Data Scientist I, Risk Analytics

About the role

We are looking for a highly technical, problem‑solving Data Scientist I to join our Risk Analytics team in Ebene, Mauritius. You will be part of the Data Analytics and Tooling squad that builds robust data pipelines, interactive dashboards, and custom applications to empower global Risk Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines, data models, and data controls using GCP, BigQuery, dbt, and Cloud Composer, ensuring a clean single source of truth for the Risk organization.
• Build intuitive custom user interfaces that streamline day‑to‑day tasks and case‑management workflows for the Risk Operations team.
• Design, build, and maintain Looker dashboards that reduce manual ad‑hoc requests and accelerate cross‑functional decision‑making.
• Create the data infrastructure needed to run anomaly detection and credit‑risk models, and integrate new AI‑based tools into risk decisioning workflows.
• Act as the trusted data partner for Risk Operations, rapidly executing ad‑hoc requests, troubleshooting data issues, and translating complex engineering data into clear business insights.

Required profile

• 2+ years of applied experience in Data Science, Data Engineering, or Data Analytics with a proven record of delivering cross‑functional projects.
• Advanced SQL fluency and solid understanding of database management, ETL pipelines, and data orchestration.
• Hands‑on experience with modern fintech tech stack such as GCP, BigQuery, dbt, Looker, Cloud Composer, Databricks, GitHub, and ReTool.
• Excellent communicator who can turn messy data into clear narratives while ensuring strict data quality and validation.
• Bonus: domain experience in payments, fraud, e‑commerce, or credit risk.
