Fuel System Mechanic

About the role

Amentum is looking for an experienced Fuel System Mechanic to support a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will ensure fuel storage, distribution, and handling systems operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with military and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot fuel storage tanks, pipelines, pumps, strainers, valves, and filtration systems.
• Inspect and test fuel systems for leaks or defects, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance in line with military and government standards.
• Execute pipefitting, welding, assembly, and disassembly of fuel system components per manufacturer requirements.
• Handle, transport, and dispose of fuel and related waste according to environmental regulations.
• Use technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to diagnose and repair complex fuel systems.
• Operate specialized tools such as pumps, meters, and valves, as well as general mechanical, hydraulic, and plumbing tools.
• Document all inspections, repairs, and services in maintenance logs for compliance tracking.
• Collaborate with maintenance personnel to resolve system malfunctions affecting operations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing fuel systems and related mechanical components.
• Demonstrated ability to follow strict safety and hazard‑control procedures, including consistent use of PPE.
• Proven record of complying with occupational safety and health standards in a military or industrial environment.
• Willingness to work onsite on Diego Garcia and support 24/7 fueling operations as needed.
