Director, Site Reliability Engineering

About the role

Working on the Site Reliability team, you will build and maintain world‑class infrastructure that supports millions of privacy‑focused users. You will use high‑level languages such as Perl, Go, TypeScript, and Python to deliver reliable services and drive projects like Duck.ai reliability, index scaling, and anti‑fraud verification.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate infrastructure to meet the needs of DuckDuckGo’s global user base.
• Ensure Duck.ai meets reliability standards and minimize user friction on failures.
• Scale the search index infrastructure to handle billions of documents.
• Create privacy‑respecting anti‑fraud verification mechanisms.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in reliability, platform, infrastructure, or software engineering, with at least 4 years leading SRE teams.
• Experience participating in a 24×7 on‑call rotation for large‑scale deployments.
• Proven ability to lead high‑impact projects from proposal through post‑mortem.
• Strong investigative skills to root‑cause instability in high‑traffic distributed systems.
• Deep expertise administering Linux and web technologies.
