Senior Python Engineer

About the role

WellDev is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to design, secure, and deliver scalable data and AI solutions. You will bridge raw data to downstream tools, building robust backend code, automated pipelines, and deploying machine learning models on Azure and Databricks.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks (Spark/PySpark) and Azure Data Factory.
• Implement and optimise a modern Data Lakehouse with Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture.
• Manage data governance, access, security, and lineage via Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Develop cloud‑native environments, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and IaC with Terraform.
• Collaborate in agile (SAFe) teams with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders.
• Write clean, testable Python and Bash scripts for backend services and workflow automation.
• Optimise storage, query performance and cloud compute costs for efficiency.

Required profile

• M.Sc/B.Sc in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics or related STEM field.
• 4+ years of hands‑on experience in software engineering, data engineering or cloud platform management.
• Strong foundation in object‑oriented Python development.
• Deep expertise in writing complex SQL queries, including window functions, CTEs and joins.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure services and modern cloud analytics platforms.
• Willingness to undergo Databricks training provided by the company.
