Software Developer (Java)

About the role

Dayforce is seeking a product‑focused Software Engineer to build and ship features across Java services, MS SQL Server data layer, and a React front‑end. You will work closely with product, design, and QA teams to deliver reliable, high‑quality code that delights customers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver well‑scoped features end‑to‑end (Java → MS SQL → React) with high code quality.
• Write clear, maintainable code, add unit/integration tests, and participate in code reviews.
• Implement accessible, responsive UI components in React using modern hooks and patterns.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries and stored procedures on MS SQL Server.
• Help improve CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, and documentation.
• Partner with Product, Design, and QA to refine requirements and clarify edge cases.
• Troubleshoot issues across the stack and support on‑call rotations under guidance.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional software development experience with Java and/or React.
• Strong understanding of OOP, API fundamentals, and basic data modelling.
• Comfortable with SQL, version control, testing, and CI practices.
• Clear communication, curiosity, growth mindset, and ownership of work.

Required skills

• Java (modern frameworks) and RESTful services.
• React (TypeScript preferred) and component‑driven development.
• MS SQL Server – queries, stored procedures, migrations.
• GitHub, CI/CD, automated testing, feature flags, monitoring/logging.
• Containers (Docker/Kubernetes) – plus.
