Software Development Manager – Payroll Solutions

About the role

We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the team that builds and enhances Powerpay’s cloud payroll platform. The role combines people leadership with deep technical expertise to deliver secure, scalable, and customer‑focused solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers, fostering an inclusive and high‑performing culture.
• Own delivery of product roadmap commitments, partnering with Product Management to prioritize work and drive Agile processes.
• Provide technical guidance on architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment of Java‑based services.
• Drive engineering best practices around code quality, automation, security, performance, and operational excellence.
• Explore and integrate AI and Generative AI capabilities to enhance product functionality and engineering productivity.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Platform, and other engineering teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in a fast‑moving, cloud‑based environment.
• Strong ability to mentor engineers, manage performance, and support hiring and onboarding.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
