Supervisor – Base Communications Office (BCO)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Supervisor for the Base Communications Office (BCO) to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role oversees the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Base Telecommunications Distribution System, ensuring reliable communications for critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead installation and operation of the Base Telecommunications Distribution System and its components.
• Maintain switch operations, switchboard functions, inside‑plant telephone switches, station equipment, customer‑premise cabling, and outside‑plant fiber‑optic/copper cables.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate personnel responsible for communications infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with BICSI certification standards and equipment‑manufacturer certifications.
• Conduct scheduled inspections, service calls, and preventive maintenance.
• Manage lifecycle activities including repairs, upgrades, and testing.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and produce detailed performance and incident reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing telecom or base communications systems.
• Ability to supervise technical teams and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Required skills

• BICSI Registered Technician Level certification (or higher).
• Switch operations and switchboard management.
• Inside‑plant telephone switch maintenance.
• Customer‑premise cabling.
• Outside‑plant fiber‑optic and copper cable installation.
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment.
