Head – Intelligent Engineering & AI Enablement

About the role

Absa Mauritius is launching the next phase of its technology transformation, shifting from a supplier‑led delivery model to an AI‑enabled engineering approach. The Head of Intelligent Engineering & AI Enablement will create and lead a high‑calibre engineering capability that spans AI, product, platform, quality, DevSecOps, SRE/AIOps and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Intelligent Engineering & AI Enablement strategy aligned with digital transformation priorities.
• Establish an AI‑native, product‑centric operating model across the software development lifecycle.
• Build a small, elite engineering team covering AI, product, platform, quality, DevSecOps, SRE/AIOps and automation.
• Transform supplier‑led delivery into a bank‑owned, AI‑augmented engineering model while leveraging partners strategically.
• Collaborate horizontally with Digital Transformation, Technology & Run, Product, Architecture, Cyber & Risk, Group Technology/AI and external partners.

Required profile

• Proven senior technology leader with experience driving large‑scale engineering transformation.
• Strong understanding of AI‑native engineering, DevSecOps and SRE/AIOps practices.
• Ability to build and mentor high‑performance engineering teams.
• Strategic mindset to align engineering initiatives with business outcomes.
