Airfield Manager – Diego Garcia

About the role

Amentum is looking for an experienced Airfield Manager to lead daily operations of the Diego Garcia airfield, supporting a critical U.S. Navy program. The role ensures the airfield complies with all applicable regulations and remains ready for 24/7 operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily airfield operations, maintaining compliance with Federal, Host Nation, and BIOT laws and directives.
• Serve as the primary contact for safe and functional airfield activities, including decisions to open or close the airfield.
• Advise the Government Air Operations Officer on operational status and readiness.
• Enforce DoD, FAA, NATOPS, UFC, ICAO, and other standards governing airfield management.
• Lead construction, repairs, and security‑focused projects on the airfield.
• Manage Airfield Management Division personnel and coordinate with base operations.
• Prepare documentation for contracting officials regarding personnel changes.
• Train staff on safety, regulatory compliance, and operational best practices.
• Conduct audits, reassessments, and inspections to maintain safety and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field from a U.S. or U.K. accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in overall airfield management, with experience comparable to Diego Garcia operations.
• Strong knowledge of DoD, FAA, NATOPS, UFC, ICAO, and related airfield regulations.
• Familiarity with airfield security and safety requirements.
