Gardener – School Grounds Maintenance

About the role

Northfields International School is seeking a dedicated Gardener to look after its extensive outdoor areas. The role involves keeping the school’s gardens, lawns and landscaped spaces healthy, attractive and safe for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, lawns, landscapes and green spaces to ensure they are healthy, clean and visually appealing.
• Plant, water, fertilise and care for flowers, shrubs, trees and grass.
• Perform regular pruning, trimming, mowing and weeding of plants and lawns.
• Monitor plant health, identify diseases, pests or nutrient deficiencies and take corrective actions.
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides safely and in accordance with guidelines.
• Prepare soil for planting by tilling, adding compost and improving soil quality.
• Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment.
• Install and maintain irrigation systems.
• Work Monday to Friday and two Saturdays per month.

Required profile

• Willingness to work the specified schedule of weekdays plus two Saturdays each month.

Required skills

• Operation of garden tools and equipment.
• Pruning, trimming, mowing and weeding techniques.
• Plant care including watering and fertilising.
• Identification of plant diseases, pests and nutrient issues.
• Safe handling and application of fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides.
• Soil preparation, tilling and compost incorporation.
• Installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
