Resident Coordinator – UN Development System (Mauritius)

About the role

The Resident Coordinator in Mauritius leads the United Nations development system for Mauritius and the Republic of Seychelles. As the highest‑ranking UN development representative, the role oversees the UN Country Team, ensures implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework and drives progress on the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at the highest governmental levels and engage with civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and the private sector.
• Lead the UN Country Team in developing, monitoring and reporting on the UN Cooperation Framework.
• Coordinate UN support to national priorities, ensuring system‑wide accountability and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Report annually to the Secretary‑General and to the host government on the implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework.
• Advocate for accelerated action on the Sustainable Development Goals and promote inclusive, poverty‑eradication strategies.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in development coordination and UN system operations.
• Deep understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
• Proven leadership of multi‑agency teams and strong diplomatic skills.
• Ability to build effective partnerships with government, NGOs, and international stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
