Accountant – Financial Accounting & Reporting

About the role

Join DHL Global Forwarding in Port‑Louis as an Accountant, responsible for financial accounting and reporting, ensuring accurate financial statements and supporting the finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, provisions and adjustments.
• Perform general ledger accounting and month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Execute balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and reduce aged balances.
• Manage intercompany accounting, coordinate closures and resolve unreconciled items.
• Support bank and cash accounting, validate journal entries and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, maintain documentation and participate in audits.
• Handle requests through approved workflow tools and enforce process standardisation.
• Act as a key contact for country finance teams, providing timely responses and clear communication.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities and efficiency gains.
• Monitor unbilled revenue, pre‑payments, accruals and perform variance analysis against budget.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting or Finance; professional certification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA) preferred.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience with strong accountability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure, especially during month‑end close.
• Experience guiding junior team members and promoting collaboration.
• Understanding of how accounting impacts business outcomes and a focus on continuous improvement.
