Assistant Accountant – Finance & Accounting

About the role

The Assistant Accountant will support the finance and accounting function of McDonald’s Mauritius, ensuring accurate processing of daily financial transactions and compliance with internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily sales reports from stores and reconcile cash, card, and MCB Juice payments with bank statements.
• Process supplier invoices, prepare payment batches, and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and maintain general ledger and sub‑ledger accounts.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, financial statements, VAT returns and other statutory filings.
• Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems and provide support to stores for invoice and payment queries.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or ACCA Level 2 completed.
• 3‑4 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in retail or food service.
• Basic knowledge of Mauritian tax laws and accounting standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with high integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage or similar).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• General ledger and sub‑ledger maintenance.
• Bank reconciliation and cash handling.
• Preparation of VAT returns and other statutory filings.
