Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support our finance team in managing daily accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The role involves handling payments, reconciliations, and assisting with payroll and audit preparations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities.
• Reconcile receipts to bank statements daily.
• Process payable invoices using accounting software.
• Initiate local and foreign supplier payments according to terms.
• Follow up on receivables and monitor petty‑cash expenses.
• Verify attendance sheets before monthly payroll processing.
• Maintain up‑to‑date contracts and insurance records.
• Prepare timely monthly returns (CSG, Levy, NSF, PAYE, PRGF, VAT, TDS).
• Compile annual returns (TDS and RoE) within deadlines.
• Ensure proper file maintenance and provide documents for external audits.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting and Finance.
• ACCA qualification (completed or ongoing Level 2).
• 3–4 years of experience in an accounts department.
• Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with at least one accounting software; POS knowledge is a plus.
