Assistant Director of Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Director of Engineering to join the leadership team of a luxury resort in Mauritius. The role supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing all engineering, maintenance and renovation activities across the property.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing the department’s annual budget and cost estimates for upgrades.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes for guest rooms and public areas.
• Train and supervise maintenance staff on the latest architectural finishes and technical procedures.
• Coordinate civil works, contracted projects and ensure minimal downtime.
• Monitor and report on the Environmental Management System (EMS) and produce regular environmental performance reports.
• Maintain up‑to‑date engineering documentation and structural stability records.
• Assume full responsibility for the engineering department in the Director’s absence.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of experience in hotel engineering, operations and renovations.
• Three years of full‑time technical training in a recognised institute, specialising in air‑conditioning, refrigeration or electrical fields.
• Diploma in Air‑Conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical Engineering; Fire Brigade certification preferred.
• Fluent in English and French; additional language is a plus.
• Proficient with standard computer applications.
