Chief Electrician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Electrician to lead the electrical maintenance and operations at our luxury resort in Mauritius. The role combines hands‑on technical work with leadership of a small team, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient electrical services throughout the property.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise electricians and electrical technicians, planning daily tasks and priorities.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of all electrical systems.
• Diagnose faults, repair equipment, and ensure timely resolution of breakdowns.
• Inspect installations, wiring, switchboards, motors, generators, lighting and control systems.
• Guarantee compliance with safety standards, electrical codes and company procedures.
• Monitor equipment performance, anticipate failures and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with engineering and operations departments.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
• Manage spare parts, tools and material inventories, recommending replacements as needed.
• Lead safety inspections, enforce PPE use and respond to electrical emergencies.
• Train, guide and evaluate junior electrical staff.
• Liaise with contractors and external service providers for specialised work.
• Prepare maintenance reports and advise management on system improvements.

Required profile

• Diploma, certificate or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a senior electrical role, preferably as a chief electrician.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial equipment and safety regulations.
• Experience with generators, motors, distribution panels and control systems is an advantage.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Proven leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
