Commis 1 – Junior Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis 1 plays an essential role in food preparation and station support across the kitchen at Four Seasons Mauritius. This skilled junior position is ideal for candidates with foundational culinary training and 1–2 years of professional kitchen experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and cook basic dishes under guidance, ensuring quality, consistency and presentation.
• Complete mise‑en‑place for the assigned station, maintaining readiness of sauces, vegetables and garnishes.
• Support the Demi Chef or Chef de Partie in daily production needs.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, utensils and equipment in line with HACCP guidelines.
• Assist with receiving, storing ingredients and practice FIFO stock control.

Required profile

• Certificate in culinary arts or food production preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience in a hotel, resort or restaurant kitchen.
• Food Handler’s Certificate (required).
• Dependable, detail‑oriented and quality‑driven with good communication skills.
