About the role
The Dispatcher (Transportation) for the USAF will coordinate the movement of vehicles and equipment supporting a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. This position ensures timely, safe, and compliant dispatch of transportation assets for both scheduled and unscheduled missions.
Key responsibilities
- Provide efficient dispatch services for transportation vehicles and equipment for scheduled and unscheduled assignments.
- Ensure B‑Pool, C‑Pool, and rental vehicles are used exclusively by U.S. Government personnel and comply with all applicable regulations.
- Meet strict time standards: vehicles must be available within ±15 minutes during normal working hours and within two hours after hours.
- Supervise or perform vehicle and equipment inspections at check‑out and check‑in, documenting discrepancies on NAVFAC Form 11260/4, NAVFAC Form 9‑11240/13, and the Operator’s Daily Checklist.
- Maintain detailed, accurate logs of all dispatch activities, including vehicle assignments, usage, and condition reports.
- Monitor vehicle availability and coordinate schedules to maximize fleet utilization.
- Communicate trip details, special requirements, and operational instructions to government personnel and vehicle operators.
- Assist operators in resolving equipment and vehicle discrepancies, escalating issues when necessary.
- Track maintenance schedules and coordinate with maintenance personnel to keep vehicles in optimal condition.
- Enforce safety standards and operating procedures for all transportation services.
- Provide customer‑focused service to U.S. Government personnel and support their transportation needs.
- Comply with occupational safety and health standards, consistently use PPE, and report workplace hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the position’s level.
Required profile
- Ability to adhere to U.S. Government regulations governing vehicle usage.
- Strong attention to detail for inspections, documentation, and record‑keeping.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with government personnel and vehicle operators.
- Commitment to safety protocols, including proper PPE usage and hazard reporting.
- Capability to meet strict dispatch time standards and manage fleet schedules.
