External Audit Lead – Mauritius

About the role

An international audit practice is seeking an experienced External Audit Lead to establish and grow its audit delivery centre in Mauritius. Reporting to audit leadership in Malta, you will shape the local operation, build a high‑performing team and ensure the delivery of high‑quality audit services across multiple industries.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring deadlines, budgets and quality standards are met.
• Oversee audit teams, review audit files, financial statements and significant accounting judgments.
• Resolve complex technical matters and provide guidance on IFRS and ISA issues.
• Coordinate audit work between Mauritius and Malta, managing resources, budgets and profitability.
• Recruit, coach and develop audit professionals, identifying training needs and supporting career progression.
• Help establish audit processes, methodologies, quality controls and leverage technology, automation and data analytics to improve delivery.

Required profile

• Unrestricted right to work in Mauritius without employer sponsorship.
• Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent) and a university degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• 8–10 years of professional audit experience, preferably in a Big‑4 or international mid‑tier firm, with a track record of managing multiple engagements and senior client relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to progress to Senior Manager level and lead teams.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of IFRS.
• Advanced knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISA).
• Proficiency in data analytics for audit purposes.
