Finance Trainee – Fixed Term Contract

About the role

The Finance Trainee will support the Finance Department of Inchcape Shipping Services in Mauritius, providing essential administrative and operational assistance. This fixed‑term position offers hands‑on experience with invoicing, vendor management, and compliance within a global shipping environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Bulk Discounts Sheet accurately and on time.
• Assist with debtor management by following up on outstanding balances and coordinating with operators.
• Coordinate with FOPS on overhead and Unit4‑related invoices, ensuring proper posting.
• Create and maintain vendor records in EMD, including Dow Jones screening and Gatekeeper registration.
• Scan, file, and archive vendor invoices electronically.
• Populate port invoice trackers and allocate invoices to operators.
• Support spares billing activities and print Disbursement Accounts after quality control approval.
• Prepare cheques, follow up on invoice allocations, and manage supporting documentation.
• Update petty cash and employee expense claim trackers, performing reconciliations.
• Conduct accounts reconciliations and flag discrepancies for resolution.
• Assist in printing payment vouchers and supporting invoices for payment processing.
• Order and maintain office stationery, manage filing, raise IT tickets, and monitor resolutions.
• Monitor insurance policies, renew licences, and support HR document filing.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Finance or ACCA Level 1 (or equivalent).
• HSC level with Accounting as a main subject (desirable).
• Good knowledge of finance and administrative processes.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle information professionally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel).
• Unit4 ERP system for invoice processing.
