Group Legal Counsel

About the role

Ocorian, a global advisory firm serving asset managers, private wealth, corporates and issuers, is hiring a Group Legal Counsel to join its Group Legal team. The role supports a global business operating across multiple jurisdictions, offering commercially focused legal guidance that strengthens governance and client outcomes. It suits someone who wants to combine technical legal expertise, commercial influence and international exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across the business
• Support strategic initiatives, transactions and cross-border projects across multiple jurisdictions
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements
• Advise on corporate, commercial, regulatory, data protection and financial services matters
• Contribute to legal frameworks, policies and governance standards
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and share insights
• Manage legal matters relating to clients, suppliers and Group entities
• Develop legal precedents, guidance materials and knowledge resources
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders and external legal advisers
• Deliver legal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives

Required profile

• Qualified Barrister in Mauritius and called to the Bar in the UK
• Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience, including at least 3 years in an in-house legal role
• Experience advising on trust, corporate, commercial, fund and financial services law in a regulated or professional services environment
• Ability to turn complex legal concepts into clear, business-focused advice
