Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development

About the role

The Mauritius Ports Authority is seeking a senior professional to lead its Human Resources and Organisational Development function. The role will align HR strategy with the Authority’s corporate objectives and drive talent, performance and succession initiatives across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Assess manpower needs, ensuring each grade is correctly staffed to meet departmental and organisational goals.
• Link strategic corporate planning to effective leadership and management of staff.
• Implement and monitor a Performance Management System against defined yardsticks.
• Identify skill gaps, recommend training or external recruitment, and design training schemes to close those gaps.
• Oversee recruitment for scarce skill areas and ensure technical staff receive regular training on equipment operation.
• Act as a strategic partner to foster a culture of growth, employee relations and motivation.
• Analyse staff age profiles for succession planning and ensure business continuity.
• Drive talent management and other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Cambridge Higher School Certificate or equivalent (A‑Levels).
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Industrial Psychology, Law & Management, Strategic Management, Organisational Development or related field.
• Master’s degree (MBA, MSc) specialising in Human Resources, Strategic Management or Industrial/Organisational Psychology.
• Minimum 10 years of HR experience post‑qualification, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role.
