Head of Market Making

About the role

The Head of Market Making leads treasury operations across foreign exchange (FX) and government securities, ensuring the institution provides liquidity, competitive pricing and efficient execution while protecting profitability within defined risk limits.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate, competitive pricing for treasury products and manage FX positions to maximise gains within prudential limits.
• Prepare and validate daily indicative exchange rates and disseminate them to customers, internal teams and digital platforms.
• Monitor global economic, political and market conditions to forecast currency movements and identify trading opportunities.
• Execute trades electronically or via direct communication channels with efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive market‑making strategy aligned with treasury objectives.
• Maintain strong relationships with wholesale and institutional clients, regulators and counterparties.
• Ensure exposures remain within regulatory limits and oversee reconciliation of FX positions, Nostro accounts and trading income.
• Strengthen treasury systems, operational controls and risk‑management frameworks.
• Lead, coach and motivate the market‑making team to achieve high performance.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Banking, Finance or a related field, or equivalent professional qualification.
• ACI certification (mandatory or to be obtained within six months).
• In‑depth knowledge of the USD/MUR market, local regulations and the impact of EUR/USD movements on the USD/MUR pair.
• Established network of contacts with FX dealers.
• Proven senior leadership experience in treasury or FX market‑making.
