HVAC Technician

About the role

The HVAC Technician will join the Engineering team at Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on the south‑eastern coast of Mauritius. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems to ensure guest comfort and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs and routine maintenance on all HVAC equipment and related mechanical systems.
• Execute the preventive maintenance programme and record daily activities.
• Carry out electric arc welding, argon gas welding and oxy‑acetylene welding, as well as minor metal fabrication when required.
• Assist the Assistant Chief Engineer in preparing spare‑parts lists and managing stock control.
• Respond to guestroom maintenance requests and support shift duties as assigned.
• Participate in the resort’s energy‑conservation initiatives and fire‑brigade duties when needed.

Required profile

• Minimum secondary education; additional technical training or certificates are a plus.
• At least 1 year of experience in a hotel or luxury resort environment.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, unpredictable setting and adapt to changing priorities.
• Fluent written and verbal communication in English (or another language).

Required skills

• Knowledge of HVAC system operation and fault diagnosis.
• Electric arc welding, argon gas welding and oxy‑acetylene welding.
• Basic metal fabrication and workshop safety practices.
• Preventive maintenance planning and execution.
