Junior Accountant

About the role

This Junior Accountant position covers the day-to-day recording and reconciliation of customer and supplier transactions, including accounts receivable and payable, bank and petty cash reconciliations, and the application of Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) in line with Mauritian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Record and post customer receipts against invoices, maintain accurate customer accounts and follow up overdue balances.
• Analyse accounts receivable ageing, resolve customer billing queries and perform AR reconciliations.
• Apply and record TDS on customer payments, send invoices and support month-end close.
• Receive, verify and post supplier invoices, prepare payment runs, reconcile AP and track outstanding payables.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies with suppliers and record TDS on supplier payments.
• Reconcile bank accounts to the general ledger, investigate differences and ensure bank transactions are documented.
• Custody petty cash, record and reconcile petty cash transactions and arrange reimbursements.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in finance or accounting; at least 3 years' experience or a similar role.
• Sound professional in accounting and finance, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with foreign currencies is an advantage.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with intermediate-level Excel.
• Experience inputting and outputting data in ERP and accounting systems and consolidation reporting tools (preferably SAP S/4HANA).
• Attention to detail, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, and a solution-oriented approach.
