Kitchen Technician – Luxury Resort

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on the south‑eastern coast of Mauritius, is seeking a Kitchen Technician to keep all kitchen equipment operating at peak performance. You will work on‑site in a serene, ocean‑view environment, supporting the culinary team with maintenance, repairs and energy‑saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance on kitchen equipment such as cooking ranges, ovens, freezers, fridges, blenders, mixers, dish‑washing machines and other appliances.
• Systematically oil, lubricate, replace belts, tighten screws, nuts and bolts to ensure machines remain in good working order.
• Monitor daily cooking gas consumption, record usage and reorder supplies when stock runs low.
• Maintain lighting in the kitchen area, cold rooms and refrigeration units.
• Assist the supervisor with equipment performance logs, energy‑cost analysis and implementation of conservation policies.
• Respond to fire‑alarm incidents and other emergencies as required.
• Keep the assigned area clean and ensure all equipment meets hygiene standards.

Required profile

• Middle or secondary education; additional training or certificates in a relevant technical field is a plus.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in hotel or luxury‑resort kitchen maintenance.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal) or another language.

Required skills

• Knowledge of operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment (cooking range, toaster, juicer, ice maker, freezers, fridge, blender, oven, food warmer, brewers, dish‑washing machine, mixer).
• Ability to diagnose faults, replace belts, oil and lubricate machinery, and tighten screws, nuts and bolts.
• Experience with gas consumption monitoring and lighting maintenance.
• Basic understanding of energy‑conservation practices and cost analysis.
