Lead Database Administrator

About the role

International Card Processing Services Ltd (ICPS) is seeking a Lead Database Administrator to oversee the stability, performance, and evolution of its database environment across pre‑production, UAT, and production systems. The role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, guiding a team of junior DBAs and ensuring high‑availability services for global payment solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, and optimise Oracle database environments to guarantee high availability and performance.
• Provision, maintain, and support PRE‑PROD, UAT, and PROD environments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a pool of Level I and II DBAs, fostering knowledge transfer.
• Apply a maker‑checker approach to validate changes for impact, risk, and compliance.
• Oversee database‑related projects, aligning technical delivery with business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardisation, and optimisation initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to best practices, security standards, and reporting requirements.
• Handle incident management, root‑cause analysis, and provide timely resolution, including after‑hours support.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of solid experience in database administration.
• Proven ability to take ownership, demonstrate reliability, and deliver on commitments.
• Availability for on‑call duties and critical incident response.
• Strong documentation practices and a proactive, innovative mindset.
• Commitment to knowledge sharing and team development.
• Relevant certifications in Oracle and GoldenGate; additional systems engineering certifications are a plus.
