Logistics Assistant

About the role

The Logistics Assistant will coordinate customs clearance activities across Inchcape Shipping Services' Port Agency, Offshore, Liner and SCS business streams in Port Louis, Mauritius. The role ensures efficient customs operations, regulatory compliance and supports crew changes when customs work is low.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end customs clearance for port agency and cargo operations, guaranteeing timely and compliant delivery.
• Liaise with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Agriculture to secure import, export and landing permits.
• Monitor and renew customs licences, permits and bank guarantees to maintain compliance.
• Inform the business of changes to Mauritian customs legislation and adjust processes accordingly.
• Prepare cost estimates and provide operational support for customs‑related activities.
• Perform crew changes and offer operational assistance during periods of reduced customs activity.
• Ensure adherence to the ISS Global Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Contribute to local quality objectives, key performance indicators and overall operational excellence.
• Promote ISS services and identify opportunities for business growth and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate records and effective use of all ISS systems.
• Undertake additional duties as directed by the Line Manager.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑3 years of experience in a similar logistics or customs role.
• Knowledge of statutory documentary requirements for clearing consignments to and from Mauritius.
• Familiarity with Incoterms, HS Codes, MACCS and MNS.
• Strong administrative, communication and organizational abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
• Valid driving licence.
