Managing Director – Quality Service Centre

About the role

The Managing Director will lead Hapag-Lloyd's Quality Service Centre (QSC) in Mauritius, ensuring high‑quality, customer‑centric service while supporting the company's growth across Africa. This senior position combines strategic leadership with operational oversight to drive cost‑effectiveness and performance excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the overall strategy, performance and governance of QSC Mauritius in line with regional and global objectives.
• Foster a strong customer‑service culture focused on excellence, quality and continuous improvement.
• Drive operational excellence by improving productivity, efficiency, quality and cost‑effectiveness across all functions.
• Lead financial governance, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk management and compliance.
• Implement continuous‑improvement initiatives, applying PREX and Lean principles to remove bottlenecks.
• Ensure achievement of service levels, KPIs and performance targets for all departments.
• Build and sustain a high‑performing leadership team through coaching, talent development and succession planning.
• Represent QSC Mauritius in regional and global forums and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
• Resolve complex operational and customer issues, delivering sustainable solutions and preventing root‑cause recurrence.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a logistics, transport or shipping environment.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of aligning operations to business strategy.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross‑functional teams and drive cultural change.
• Experience in financial management, budgeting and risk governance.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, digital transformation and compliance standards.
