Remote Accountant (Mauritius)

About the role

Green Safaris is seeking a remote Accountant to manage the bookkeeping and accounting for two of its entities. The role involves daily transaction processing, monthly financial reporting, and supporting statutory and tax compliance. You will work closely with the Financial Manager to ensure accurate financial information and robust controls.

Key responsibilities

• Process all accounting transactions, including purchase invoices, petty‑cash expenses, bank transfers and payroll journal entries.
• Post sales invoices in Xero and reconcile incoming payments.
• Perform weekly bank reconciliations by downloading statements and uploading them to Xero.
• Verify, process and monitor supplier invoices and expense reports, ensuring compliance with controls.
• Maintain strict adherence to financial policies, limits of authority and other procedures.
• Analyse stock consumption and payroll costs against budgets, highlighting variances and recommending actions.
• Assist with the annual audit according to the group‑level timetable.
• Prepare regular and ad‑hoc financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Higher School Certificate or university degree; ACCA‑part qualified candidates are welcome.
• Minimum three years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel for reporting and analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing and delivering reports.
• Clear understanding of accounting policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Competence in using Microsoft Office applications.
