Resident Advisor – Macroeconomics (IMF ATI)

About the role

The Resident Advisor will join the IMF‑Africa Training Institute (ATI) in Mauritius to strengthen macroeconomic and financial policy capacity across 45 sub‑Saharan African member countries. The role involves teaching, curriculum development, and providing technical assistance to government officials.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver macroeconomic policy courses to central bank, finance ministry and regulatory officials, using face‑to‑face, blended or virtual formats.
• Prepare and update lecture notes, case studies and workshop materials, tailoring content to specific country needs.
• Provide technical assistance on macro‑frameworks, supporting forecasting, risk analysis and policy communication.
• Contribute to research that informs ATI training programmes, when time permits.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, finance or a related field.
• Experience teaching or training senior public‑sector officials on macroeconomic topics.
• Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum and case studies.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with macroeconomic policy design.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data analysis and workshop exercises.
