Resident Medical Officer (RMO)

About the role

The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) will join C‑Care International’s hospital network in Mauritius, reporting to the Head of Medical Services. The RMO provides comprehensive patient care, supports senior clinicians, and contributes to the delivery of high‑quality healthcare.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, take medical histories and perform physical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage common medical conditions, order investigations and develop treatment plans.
• Monitor patient progress, evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust management as needed.
• Collaborate with consultants, nursing staff, allied health professionals and other hospital teams.
• Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions and patient rounds.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing initial stabilisation and treatment.
• Take part in on‑call rotations and provide after‑hours support.
• Maintain accurate medical records, including encounters, treatment plans and discharge summaries.
• Engage in continuing medical education and professional development activities.
• Support and supervise junior medical staff and medical students where applicable.

Required profile

• MBBS degree from a recognised university.
• Medical Council registration in Mauritius.
• Junior (0‑3 years) or senior (>3 years) clinical experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to patient‑centred care and quality clinical service.
