Senior Accountant

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team in Port Louis, Mauritius. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes, and collaborating with operational and country finance teams to maintain data integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions and adjustments.
• Execute general ledger accounting activities and manage monthly, quarterly and year‑end close cycles.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and reduce aged balances.
• Coordinate intercompany accounting, close processes and escalation of unreconciled items.
• Validate bank‑related journal entries, support resolution of bank discrepancies and maintain cash accounting records.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, maintain audit trails and support internal and external audits.
• Handle finance requests through approved workflow tools and reject non‑compliant submissions.
• Act as a primary contact for country finance teams, providing timely responses to queries and escalations.
• Review work of junior accountants, provide guidance and support training of new team members.
• Monitor unbilled revenue, prepayments, accruals and conduct P&L variance analysis.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4–7 years of experience in financial accounting, record‑to‑report or shared‑service environments.
• Strong knowledge of month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Experience with balance‑sheet reconciliations and intercompany accounting.
