Senior Backend Developer

About the role

Publicis Production EMEA Hub is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design, build, and operate high‑performance, secure backend services that power customer‑facing experiences across its global network. You will work with Java, Spring and related technologies in an agile, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product owners, designers, frontend developers, SysOps and peers to deliver robust APIs, services and data pipelines.
• Participate actively in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, refinements and retrospectives.
• Conduct code reviews, raise quality, security and performance concerns early, and integrate peer feedback.
• Mentor and support fellow developers through pairing, design reviews and troubleshooting.
• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring, ensuring clean, testable and resilient code.
• Define and evolve RESTful service contracts, focusing on correctness, usability and backward compatibility.
• Apply engineering best practices: automated testing, quality gates, logging, metrics, tracing and alerting.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, ADRs, diagrams and solution design documents.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines to reduce lead time and increase reliability.
• Explore new technologies, patterns and tooling to enhance developer experience and system performance.

Required profile

• Several years of experience developing backend services in Java.
• Strong understanding of Spring framework and REST API design.
• Proven ability to work in agile teams and contribute to sprint activities.
• Experience mentoring junior developers and fostering a collaborative culture.
• Solid grasp of observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and incident follow‑up.
