Stationary Engineer

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Stationary Engineer to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing a range of stationary equipment to ensure safe and efficient utility services.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain stationary engines, steam boilers, air compressors, generators, and HVAC systems.
• Monitor equipment performance, conduct daily inspections, and troubleshoot issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, repairing, and part replacement on mechanical systems.
• Start, stop, regulate, and monitor power generation, chilled water, fuel, and steam distribution systems.
• Maintain air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, and associated controls.
• Execute preventative maintenance schedules and detailed record‑keeping using logs and work orders.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, U.S. government, and military regulations.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and assist in equipment upgrades or replacements.
• Collaborate with engineering staff and management to resolve issues.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience with stationary engines, boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems for power generation and utility distribution.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and government regulations.
• Proficiency with equipment logs and CMMS.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity.
