Stewarding Supervisor

About the role

The Stewarding Supervisor leads the stewarding team at Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on Mauritius’ south‑eastern coast. Reporting to the Chief Steward, you will ensure that all back‑of‑house areas, from storage rooms to banquet stations, meet the highest standards of cleanliness, organization and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Control daily stewarding operations, including staff scheduling, record keeping and requisition management.
• Conduct briefings and enforce grooming, discipline and house‑rule compliance when senior staff are absent.
• Oversee cleaning of storage, preparation and service areas and maintain a rational cleaning schedule for food‑handling zones.
• Manage equipment storage, minimise loss and breakage, and ensure proper inventory of chinaware, glassware, silverware and other supplies.
• Coordinate set‑up and clearance of stations for all functions, working closely with outlet supervisors.
• Prepare storeroom requisitions, assist with banquet inventory and monitor chemical consumption.
• Ensure hygiene and safety regulations are followed, and that all materials are used correctly.
• Maintain security of storerooms and equipment, performing routine checks.
• Develop effective employee relations, supervise training on house rules and support the engineering department for technical requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in hotel stewarding, preferably in a luxury resort.
• Middle or secondary education with additional relevant training; a Food Handler Certificate is mandatory.
• Proven ability to lead a team, manage inventory and uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety.

• Food safety handling (Food Handler Certificate)
