Supervising Officer – Health Insurance

About the role

The Supervising Officer – Health Insurance provides technical advice, oversees underwriting transactions and supports the claims process for health insurance products. The role involves interacting with clients, intermediaries and third‑party administrators to ensure accurate quotations, underwriting decisions and claim settlements while maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and improve internal systems, procedures and guidelines to strengthen controls and efficiency.
  • Supervise team members, monitor KPIs and provide on‑the‑job training.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners and foster team spirit.
  • Approve major quotations, tender responses, underwriting transactions and claim requisitions in the IT system.
  • Assist in medical underwriting, premium recovery, data compilation and statistical reporting.
  • Conduct presentations for corporate clients and support reinsurance treaty reviews and negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance legislation, FSC codes and Ombudsman guidelines.
  • Attend court cases when required and address IT issues related to the insurance system.

Required profile

  • Degree in a science discipline with at least 4 years of supervisory experience in medical insurance, or A‑levels with 10 years of underwriting and claims handling.
  • In‑depth knowledge of health insurance practices, concepts and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a service‑oriented mindset.

Required skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
