Systems Engineer

About the role

The Systems Engineer will manage and troubleshoot the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security and performance across servers, virtualization platforms and cloud services.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse performance and capacity, and present recommendations to maintain system reliability.
• Support daily operations and resolve technical issues related to networking, virtualization and cloud platforms.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrades of hardware and software components.
• Document implemented projects and keep infrastructure documentation up‑to‑date.
• Participate in disaster‑recovery drills and activate DR procedures as defined.
• Provide technical assistance to local IT teams in East African subsidiaries.
• Monitor system health, verify backups and ensure availability of critical services.
• Research and recommend new technologies to optimise the IT environment.
• Install, configure and maintain virtual server environments, VDI, IP‑telephony, backup systems and Microsoft/Unix/Linux servers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience with Windows and/or Citrix infrastructure.
• Relevant certifications such as MCSA or Microsoft Certified Engineer.
• Experience with Azure and Office 365 is a strong advantage.
• Strong communication, organisational and teamwork abilities.
• Self‑motivated problem‑solver with a can‑do attitude.
