Trainee Industrial Engineer

About the role

Join CDL Knits Ltd as a Trainee Industrial Engineer and work alongside experienced engineers to support continuous improvement and industrial engineering initiatives across our textile manufacturing sites in Mauritius and Madagascar.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects, including Kaizen workshops.
• Identify productivity and efficiency opportunities and support waste‑reduction initiatives.
• Collect, analyse and report production data, monitor operational performance indicators, and assist with root‑cause analysis.
• Conduct time‑and‑motion studies, support line balancing, workforce planning, and workstation layout improvements.
• Learn productivity measurement, capacity planning, and contribute to operational excellence projects.
• Gain exposure to fabric (knitting, dyeing, finishing) and garment manufacturing processes.

Required profile

• Recent graduate in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production & Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Curious, analytical, detail‑oriented and passionate about problem solving.
• Comfortable working with numbers and data, strong communicator and team player.
• Adaptable and eager to take on new challenges.
