Waiter / Waitress

About the role

Tamarina Golf and Spa Boutique Hotel is recruiting a Waiter / Waitress. The role acts as a runner between the kitchen and the restaurant, bringing food and beverages to the restaurant and clearing empty trays, while serving guests in the restaurant, bar and outside catering functions.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and direct guests to their seats, present the menu and wine list and take orders.
• Perform mise-en-place of tables and service stations as instructed by supervisors.
• Be familiar with all menu items, including ingredients of dishes and cocktails, to answer guests' questions.
• Serve food and beverages according to the quality standard of service.
• Clean the workplace and perform ancillary duties, keeping the assigned area tidy and efficient.
• Present bills prepared by the cashier and ensure they are signed or paid by guests, respecting billing and ordering rules.
• Take feedback from guests on service quality and suggest improvements.
• Handle materials and equipment carefully to avoid breakage, and monitor tables for drink refills, clearing plates and a clean dining area.
• Ensure proper sales recording and cashiering of sales, and report faulty utilities such as lights, fans and toilets to a supervisor.
• Move between sections and outlets of the hotel, including outside the restaurant perimeter.

Required profile

• School Certificate or equivalent.
• National Certificate Level 3 (NC3) in Restaurant and Bar Service or equivalent.
• Valid Food Handler Certificate.
• At least 2 years' experience as a hotel waiter is an advantage.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Outgoing and pleasant personality, able to work independently and as part of a team, following hotel policies, safety procedures and supervisors' instructions.
