Associate Director – Business Development

About the role

Hawksford is seeking an Associate Director to lead its Africa‑Mauritius growth corridor. This senior, revenue‑focused position will own the end‑to‑end process of originating, converting and closing high‑value cross‑border mandates across corporate, fund and private client structures.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and originate cross‑border mandates targeting Africa‑linked investment, corporate structures, funds and private client solutions.
• Build and activate an intermediary‑led deal flow network across South Africa and the broader African region.
• Position Hawksford as the preferred execution partner for Africa‑linked structures via Mauritius.
• Lead commercial discussions, proposals and negotiations with clients and intermediaries.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution and delivery of complex, multi‑jurisdictional deals.

Required profile

• Proven track record of originating and closing high‑value business opportunities (not just supporting roles).
• Direct ownership of pipeline and revenue generation.
• Established, credible network of intermediaries such as law firms, tax advisers, fund managers and sponsors.
• Strong experience in South African and/or broader African markets.
• Demonstrated ability to operate credibly in Mauritius as a structuring jurisdiction.
• Senior, client‑facing experience with clear revenue‑origination responsibility.
