Director – Board Role in Regulated Financial Services

About the role

Volity is seeking a Director to join its board in Mauritius. This active board appointment will help shape the local financial services business, ensure compliance with the FSC licence and governance obligations, and provide a commercial and regulatory perspective to group decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in board decisions on strategy, risk appetite, operating model and business development.
• Review governance, compliance, AML/CFT, risk, finance, outsourcing, technology and operational reporting, and follow up on material issues.
• Ensure local activities remain within the entity's licence conditions and FSC requirements, escalating matters that may need licence variation or regulatory engagement.
• Oversee significant policies, conflicts of interest, outsourcing arrangements, complaints, client conduct issues and other material risks.
• Work directly with Compliance, the MLRO/DMLRO, auditors, legal advisers and the FSC when board involvement is required.

Required profile

• Resident in Mauritius for the duration of the appointment.
• Senior management, ExCo or board experience in regulated financial services, preferably with an FSC‑licensed entity.
• Deep understanding of director responsibilities for regulated entities, including governance, AML/CFT, risk management and regulatory reporting.
• Proven track record of dealing directly with regulators, auditors, legal advisers and control functions, and of challenging management on difficult issues.
