Finance Assistant

About the role

The Finance Assistant supports the Finance Manager in planning, coordinating and monitoring daily financial operations. The role ensures that all transactions are processed accurately, efficiently and within set timelines, contributing to the smooth financial close each month.

Key responsibilities

• Perform debtor account adjustments and maintain accurate debtor ledger records.
• Update and manage foreign currency transactions and exchange‑rate records.
• Prepare and reconcile input VAT schedules with supporting documentation.
• Maintain the cashbook, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare timely bank reconciliations and balance‑sheet schedules for leasing activities.
• Process month‑end journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors, responding to audit queries.
• Compile, prepare and submit ad‑hoc financial reports within agreed deadlines.
• Support continuous improvement of accounting procedures, controls and compliance.
• Supervise, coach and train junior team members to ensure operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (or recognised professional qualification).
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in finance or accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and active‑listening skills.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and organisational ability.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
