Firefighter

About the role

The Firefighter protects lives and property by performing rescue, fire‑suppression, and hazardous‑materials operations. You will respond to fires, vehicle accidents, floods, bomb incidents, and chemical spills, working closely with other emergency personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct search, rescue, and fire‑fighting operations for fires, accidents, floods, bomb incidents, and dangerous substance spills.
• Operate emergency response vehicles, hand and power tools, ladders, hoses, pumps, foam generators, and various nozzles safely and efficiently.
• Perform salvage and overhaul activities to minimize damage after incidents.
• Participate in station drills, emergency‑procedure training, and hazardous‑materials response as required.
• Maintain and operate specialized equipment such as boom and ground‑sweep nozzles.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Ability to make rapid, sound decisions under stressful and hazardous conditions.
• Strong verbal and non‑verbal communication skills.
• Effective teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Physical fitness to meet interior structural firefighting requirements (OSHA 1910.156).
• Willingness to work long hours, in adverse weather, and on short notice.

Required skills

• Operation of emergency response vehicles and driver‑operator certifications.
• Use of hand and power tools for ventilation, ladder placement, and hose handling.
• Pump, foam generator, boom and ground‑sweep nozzle operation.
• Hazardous‑materials response procedures.
• IFSAC, DOD, or National Pro‑Board certifications (Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting).
• Telecommunicator I and II certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
