Internal Surveyor

About the role

The Internal Surveyor is responsible for examining damaged vehicles, preparing accurate survey reports, and ensuring repairs are completed within defined KPIs. This position works closely with garages, agencies, and internal claims teams to manage costs and maintain quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect damaged vehicles according to service standards and capture photographic evidence.
• Prepare and submit motor surveyor reports with cost estimates and reserve calculations.
• Negotiate repair costs with garages and agencies, applying agreed discounts.
• Determine market value of salvage vehicles and handle total‑loss or high‑value cases.
• Maintain a weekly survey logbook and report market feedback to the claims manager.
• Reduce average claim cost through effective discount negotiations.
• Verify third‑party motor claims when instructed.
• Audit approved repairers and conduct spot checks at accident sites.
• Provide technical training to motor claims and recovery teams.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in vehicle surveying or motor insurance.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Deep understanding of motor insurance policies, claims procedures, coverage and exclusions.
• Panel beating and mechanical expertise.
• Highly motivated, self‑driven and able to work independently.
