Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant will help keep our facilities safe, functional, and welcoming. You will support daily upkeep of buildings, equipment, and workspaces, ensuring maintenance issues are addressed promptly. This role is ideal for a hands‑on individual who takes pride in maintaining a well‑kept environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and office facilities.
• Carry out minor repair work, including basic plumbing, painting, carpentry, and electrical tasks.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities and promptly report any maintenance concerns.
• Assist in implementing preventive maintenance activities to reduce downtime.
• Coordinate and liaise with external contractors and service providers.
• Respond efficiently to maintenance requests from employees.
• Help set up meeting rooms, office spaces, furniture, and equipment for events and workplace changes.
• Monitor the condition and cleanliness of offices, common areas, storerooms, and surrounding premises.
• Follow health and safety guidelines at all times.

Required profile

• Minimum School Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar maintenance or facilities support role.
• Experience in office building maintenance is an advantage.
• Training or certification in electrical work, plumbing, building maintenance, or a related field is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Basic record‑keeping and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
• A valid Mauritian driving licence is a plus but not essential.
