Meteorological Technician – US Navy Support

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Meteorological Technician to provide weather support for a U.S. Navy program located on Diego Garcia. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting meteorological data to ensure mission readiness and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, record, and analyze temperature, humidity, wind speed, pressure, and precipitation data.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain weather monitoring instruments and automated observation systems.
• Prepare and disseminate routine and special weather reports in line with Navy and Amentum standards.
• Assist forecasting efforts by compiling observations and identifying weather patterns.
• Monitor severe weather conditions and issue timely alerts to operational personnel.
• Maintain accurate logs, digital records, and equipment maintenance documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, aviation, and operational teams to ensure data accuracy.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in meteorology, atmospheric science, or weather observation.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in meteorology preferred.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining beyond hire date.
• Ability to meet contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.
• Willingness to travel internationally and work in an austere OCONUS environment.
