Payments Officer

About the role

The Payments Officer is responsible for checking, verifying and capturing payment instructions in the bank's payment systems. The role ensures completeness and accuracy of transactions and supports the delivery of domestic, cross‑border and clearing payments in line with contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Capture and verify payment instructions using Finacle, Eximbills Enterprise and the Alliance Messaging Hub (SWIFT).
• Process daily domestic transfers (MACSS & EFT), inward/outward remittances and clearing transactions.
• Release transactions within SLA, return erroneous items for correction, and document errors.
• Handle assistance requests, escalations, and email queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain regulatory reporting, cost control, and revenue recovery according to the concessionary pricing list.
• Apply routine controls to minimise risk and prevent fraudulent transactions.
• Complete required compliance training within deadlines.

Required profile

• Secondary/High school or A‑levels qualification.
• 1‑2 years of experience in payments operations or similar banking functions.
• Basic computer literacy and experience using payment processing applications.
• Ability to engage with stakeholders to resolve simple queries.
