Research and Development Lead

About the role

Drymix Ltd, a member of the UBP Group, is seeking a Research and Development Lead to drive product innovation and improve existing mortar formulations. Reporting to the Head of Laboratory Operations, you will lead a multidisciplinary R&D team and collaborate across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new products and enhance existing formulations through laboratory research, testing, and site validations.
• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative materials to maintain market competitiveness.
• Improve product application methods and tools to boost site productivity and customer experience.
• Evaluate competitor products and provide strategic recommendations.
• Ensure product conformity, quality standards, and continuous improvement in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Prepare technical reports, maintain accurate R&D records, and contribute to technical documentation.
• Deliver product and application training to laboratory personnel, masons, sales teams, and other stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the R&D team through performance management and coaching.
• Promote a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring compliance and risk identification.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in R&D within the mortar or related construction materials sector.
• Strong project management abilities with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret experimental data.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑department collaboration and technical training.
• Proactive, innovative, results‑driven mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits and product trials.
