Senior Batch Operator – Mainframe & Core Operations

About the role

SD Worx is seeking a Senior Batch Operator to oversee mission‑critical batch processing on both mainframe and distributed Windows Server environments. You will ensure scheduled jobs run smoothly, maintain system stability, and act quickly on any incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain health of batch cycles, mainframe systems and associated workflows.
• Perform 1st and 2nd level troubleshooting of abends, using MVS, SDSF/ISPF and TSO to analyse logs and restart or recover jobs.
• Manage automated operations with IBM System Automation (ISA) and NetView, including starting/stopping STCs and performing IPLs.
• Respond to alerts, document incidents in ticketing tools and collaborate with technical teams to minimise disruption.
• Work with other operations squads to ensure seamless cross‑system workflow execution and share knowledge.
• Participate in 24x7 rotating shift schedule, covering weekends and public holidays.

Required profile

• Proven experience in batch operations, system administration or mainframe support.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, able to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Cherwell or ServiceNow.
